List 10 things you like, but don’t have enough time for – or certainly not as much as you’d like. Simple.
1.) Cooking elaborate things
2.) Painting
3.) Mountain biking
4.) Day long gaming sessions (not videogames)
5.) Lying in the hammock
6.) Recreational driving
7.) Playing with Mobius
8.) Traveling
9.) Having people over for no reason
10.) Working on making the house/garden better
Bonus!
11.) Painting the Mini
12.) Photography
13.) Designing and building furniture (not something I’ve ever done, but something I want to do)
14.) Playing music (clarinet, piano, saxophone)
15.) Re-learning Japanese
16.) Learning Finnish
17.) Training, in earnest, for Ninja Warrior
Now, the question is, how much do I enjoy those things, and how much time do I have *really*?
Sorry to hear you don’t have enough time for things you like to do. 🙁
Eh – I mean, I do many of the things that I’d like to do. But working definitely takes up a lot of time, and practical necessities eat into the remainder. I guess the question to me then is what do I really like to do, and do I actually have time to do it or not?
I wonder if there are ten things I like doing that I don’t have enough time for… I would guess that I could probably come up with five easily, but have trouble with the rest. I will have to think about this.
I posted mine over at my pad.
I have to say that looking over the list is depressing since a lot of them I could do, but haven’t. Others, I can’t.
But the fact that I veg out at home browsing the intertubes when I could be, for example, reading a book or learning a language, is one of my greatest personal failings and/or regrets.
While I certainly don’t have time to do what I want, I have enough time to do a bit more of it than I do … do.
Woo! So, tonight, while Ei-Nyung was watching On the Lot, I noticed I was just idly websurfing. So, I went downstairs, and started reorganizing the garage. If I want to paint the Mini, I need to grind out a rust spot (a small one) on the roof. Then, I need to paint the car, but even if I’m using rollers instead of spraying, I can’t have the car sit around outside.
So, I think I’m about two or three hours away from actually being able to fit the Mini in the garage *with* the scooter and the various bikes and all the other random crap we actually “need” to store.
I did find two boxes of books that I can donate – one’s a bunch of random stuff that I’ll probably never read, and the other’s a box of old Japanese books from my childhood that would be better served at a Japanese school for kids.
Still – feels good to use that idle time towards my goals, rather than just letting it slip away.
Hey, congrats! It always feels good to turn unproductive time into productive time.
Like you, just making my list made me almost immediately realize why I haven’t made the time for some things.
You cheater! Stop coming up with more “Things”!
